Decent dressing

Modesty in dress and language and deportment is a true mark of refinement and a Hallmark of a virtuous latter-day saint woman - Ezra Taft Benson

According to the English dictionary it defines a dress as "To clothe oneself". Humans as higher animals distinguish themselves by their dressing. The dress not only serves as an adornment but Primarily as a cover.

In the world today, caution has been thrown to the winds as regards proper dressing. It is not wrong to follow the latest fashion trends but it is when the unethical one is adopted that becomes an issue.

Certain things are applicable only in specific areas. Taking dressing as a case study, some mode of dressing in the western world are not acceptable in Africa. Africans have their own culture and values which differ from theirs.

The issue of indecent dressing cannot be overemphasized for it is a canker worm that has eaten deep into the root of our society. Whenever this is brought up some persons think it concerns only the female folks NO! It concerns both.

Young boys today have adopted a pattern of dressing known as sagging which they see as "swag" it is unethical and unAfrican. The trousers are meant to be on your waist and not on your butt. How comfortable do you even feel when dressed like that?. No one takes anybody who dresses like that as responsible.

As regards the females wearing all manner of tight, short, provoking and revealing dress is unethical of the true. African woman. Your vital organs need not be exposed all in the name of fashion. It gives men the wrong impression on who you are.  The dress you wear should not be below your knee. A lot of ladies have been raped just because of the manner of things they put on.

In conclusion always dress the way you wish to be addressed. I leave you with this powerful quote
"Nothing can atone for the lack of modesty without which beauty is ungraceful and wit detestable " -  Richard Steele
